After a career in IT in a large college, I bring life experience, a wife, mother, grandmother,  supporting my mother through frail and vulnerable years.  Due to family illness, I had experienced the difficulties of growing through young teenage years with little emotional support.   With low self esteem, and lacking self-confidence, I was aware of people who gave me “landing places”, who trusted me and allowed me freedom to grow and develop my skills and abilities.  These people encouraged me to believe in myself, to push through the doors I had felt were closed to me.

This led to me achieving in later life, a Diploma in Integrative Counselling, using Person Centered, and Psychodynamic skills.  I recently completed the Certificate in Online & Telephone Counselling.  Before joining Hope Dundee, as a student counsellor and now with 1 year experience post qualified, I had volunteered for some years with a charity which allowed me to develop my skills as a listener, supporting people who were experiencing crisis pregnancy, or had suffered loss in pregnancy, and offering support through their journey of grief and mourning.

Working with Hope, I have opportunity to support clients experiencing a broader range of life issues.  As a counsellor I see myself as a “landing place” for them, as they navigate the challenges of life.
